Morrison, Janis & Jimi Special Exhibit

Three artists whose intense but tragically brief careers and lives ended at the age of 27 within a 10 month period as the 1970s began are honored in Strange Kozmic Experience, a Special Exhibit at the Grammy Museum in LA.  The display features artifacts and memorabilia from Jim Morrison of the Doors (When You're Strange), Janis Joplin (Kozmic Blues Band) and Jimi Hendrix (Jimi Hendrix Experience).  Among the items on loan from the families and other collections including the Hard Rock, the Rock Hall Of Fame and the Experience Music Project are Joplin's custom painted 1965 Porsche, hand written lyrics and letters, stage outfits, instruments, album an poster art, Morrison's poetry books, artwork by Joplin, archived interview material and much more from the artists themselves, together with a display of instruments owned by artists who influenced them, including Muddy Waters, Albert King, Odetta, Willie Dixon, Howlin' Wolf and BB King.  Portions of the exhibit are expected to tour other cities and countries after the LA run concludes Feb. 13, 2011.
