Andy Copping gave it a shot, but got shot down when he tried to get surviving members of Led Zeppelin to play the Download Festival this year.  The festival director confirmed the offer to Xfm in a recent interview, saying every festival floats an offer for 'loads of money' to Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones or their management fully expecting to get turned down, '...but everyone has a stab at it.'  Copping's coup this year was getting Aerosmith signed before the band had gone public with the news they had reconciled with Steven Tyler. (story)  He says he is 'more than happy' with this year's June 11-13 lineup, which also includes AC/DC, Them Crooked Vultures (with John Paul Jones), Billy Idol and Stone Temple Pilots.
