Pink Floyd Prevails In EMI Case

Legal action initiated by Pink Floyd against EMI over the online sale of individual songs from albums has brought a court decision in the band's favor.  The London High Court ruled Thursday (3/11) that the label's contention that the contractual restriction against the sale of individual tracks applied only to physical forms of music and did not extend to digital downloads got no traction with the court.    EMI was immediately ordered to pay more than $60,000 in court costs. A damage award to the band is also expected to be announced at a future date.  Given the fact it involves one of the best selling bands in history, it could be massive.
