Gov. Protects Abbey Road Studio

Assurances Abbey Road Studios would not be sold issued by EMI and the firm that controls the entertainment company reduced risks the historic site could be gutted or possibly even demolished. (story) Tuesday (2/23), the government made a commitment to preserving the site where Dark Side Of The Moon and most of the Beatles albums were recorded.  Notice that the studios and the building had been assigned a Grade II historic status was accompanied by the statement that the '...huge cultural importance' of the site merits the designation, which mandates that an owner must take care '...to insure that any alterations with respect to its character and interest are fully considered.'
