Legendary Studio Facing Deadline

The technology that made lps and the compact disc obsolete to millions of music fans also allows musicians to be a lot less dependent on traditional recording studios.  Hundreds have folded, among them the Record Plant in Sausalito, CA, a studio that hosted album sessions for the Grateful Dead, Bruce Springsteen, Van Morrison, the Doobie Brothers, Fleetwood Mac, John Fogerty, Santana, the Jefferson Starship, Joe Walsh, Journey, Sammy Hagar, Metallica and many more.  Mick Fleetwood did a video supporting a group trying to preserve the studio as a landmark and convert it into an educational center. Monday (2/8), Maria Maria, the restaurant in nearby Mill Valley owned by Carlos Santana did a benefit to help raise the 50k needed by the end of February to save it.(video)
