Jon Lord, the founding keyboard player of Deep Purple, is putting the finishing touches on a classical tribute album to Sir John Mortimer, a UK author and play writer who died a year ago. The album project grew out of a piece he was commissioned to write for solo flute and strings. The suite for flute, piano and orchestra Lord composed in tribute to Mortimer is featured on an album titled To Notice Such Things that Lord will release March 22. Lord and Mortimer became friends in the late 1990's, and Lord collaborated with Mortimer on the music for one of the dramatist's stage productions.
