Pearl Jam Closes Down Spectrum

Rumors that some of the stars in New York for the Rock Hall Of Fame anniversary concerts would join Pearl Jam during the last concert at the Spectrum in Philadelphia Halloween night proved unfounded, but the fact Springsteen resisted the temptation to do one last song there and news that the Yankees staged a come from behind victory against the Phillys did little to dampen spirits.  The night's only real surprise came from Pearl Jam members themselves - appearing in trademark Devo jumpsuits for a version of Whip It near the middle of the 31/2 hour show.  The arena, which opened in 1967 and has been the scene of hundreds of amazing shows (story), will be torn down to make way for a new hotel complex.
