Andy

Andy "Thunderclap" Newman burst on the scene with a captivating song titled Something In The Air that became an FM Rock radio staple in the early 70's. The song featured Pete Townshend of the Who on bass and future Wings guitarist Denny McCullough. Newman faded quickly, but the song established itself as one of the biggest non hit hits of the decade. Newman died Wednesday (3/30), according to a post on the Who web site. Newman was 73.
