Since its inception shortly after his death from stomach cancer, the Ronnie Jame Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund has donated close to a million dollars to fight the disease.  The fund's latest check presented $100,000 to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.  The Dio Fund donations to the research facility open the way to additional grants in the $1 million + range from government sources.  Dio received treatment at the Houston center that his wife said gave her husband hope and inspired him in fighting the disease.  The Dio Fund raised money through the sale of the Dio tribute album This Is Your Life and an annual gala awards event.
