A guitar George Harrison owned and played on UK television performances before the group's Ed Sullivan Show appearances and while in the studio for the sessions that produced I Want To Hold Your Hand was expected to sell at auction for between $400,000 and $600,000. The 1962 Rickenbacker 425 brought in a top bid of $657,000 Saturday (5/17). Harrison bought the simple black and white guitar in Mount Vernon, Illinois during a visit with his sister in 1963. A Hofner bass guitar Paul McCartney rented in the 60's fetched a top bid of $125,000 during the New York auction.
