On this date in 1982, the US Festival opened a 3 day run that includes sets from Fleetwood Mac, Cars, Grateful Dead, Talking Heads, Jackson Browne, Eddie Money, Santana, the Kinks, Pat Benatar, Tom Petty, the Police, Jimmy Buffett in San Bernardino,California. Close to 400,00 attend the event underwritten by Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, but the event reportedly loses more than 10 million dollars.
